What malicious intent could NPCs possibly have? C4.1

Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. 🙂

Chp4. part1

A hideous doll, identical to the one in the poster for room 205, emerged from the wall.

The doll was enormous, nearly half a person’s height. It looked as if it had been chopped open and sewn back together, its face bearing several scar-like stitches, its features twisted and grotesque.

It clutched a weapon—an exaggeratedly large pair of scissors.

It spotted Ning Ge immediately, and with a snap of its scissors, it lunged at her like a crab.

It was actually intended to attack her.

We’re all NPCs. Why such infighting?

It barely managed to take a few steps before Pei Han intercepted it.

Pei Han snorted coldly, grabbed a fire axe from beside the bed, and swung it.

Despite its dilapidated state, the doll was surprisingly agile. With lightning speed, it twisted its waist to dodge the axe and slashed at Pei Han’s ankle with its scissors.

Pei Han deftly dodged the sharp blade of the scissors, then casually raised his long leg and kicked the doll in the back, sending it sliding across the ground.

Before the doll could get up, Ning Ge swung a chair, took two steps forward, and struck it on the head.

The doll was stunned by the blow, twisting and struggling on the ground for a few moments, but before it could stand up again, Pei Han’s axe came down.

He ruthlessly chopped the doll into pieces, one blow after another, meticulously turning it into dumpling filling.

In this state, it is difficult to sew it back together.

However, it showed no intention of resewing itself back together. Soon, like the masked man, it turned into black ash and disappeared.

The room only experienced this one strange occurrence, the rest of the time was peaceful again.

Ning Ge thought to herself, “It seems that during each ‘rest’ period, only one strange thing appears.”

Finally, free time arrived. As soon as everyone entered room 203, Pei Han was the first to admit that he had just opened the newspaper in room 205.

And sure enough, the Ugly Duckling from the poster appeared.

“See? I told you…”

Green hair said, but after glancing at the axe Pei Han was fiddling with, he lowered his voice.

“…I told you, don’t open the newspaper. If you do, you’ll release what’s sealed inside.”

The sales clerk suggested, “Why don’t we try burning all these posters? Burning them all might solve the problem.”

The green-haired guy retorted, “Putting aside the fact that we don’t have a lighter, if burning them would solve everything, why didn’t the master burn them? Why did he have to seal them in the newspaper?”

The newspaper-sealing master, Ning Ge: “…”

Granny-grey hair also said, “Right, right, right. I saw a movie where the dolls were clearly problematic. However, they kept them because they said if they destroyed them, the monsters on them would possess other things, so they could only keep them as offerings.”

The sales clerk muttered under her breath, “Of course! Otherwise, how would they make a sequel?”

Pei Han remained silent, twirling the axe handle in his hand, tilting his head in thought.

Ning Ge could roughly guess what he was thinking.

He was probably thinking the same thing as her, how to break free from this endless cycle.

“I have an idea,” the sales clerk said. “What if there are five posters in these five rooms? Once we kill all the monsters on all five posters, we’re done?”

This girl, true to her horror movie enthusiast nature, offered a bold suggestion: “Or how about we peel back the remaining newspapers one by one and kill each monster in turn?”

That sounded like a good idea.

Granny-grey immediately objected.

“Those two were from American-style hack-and-slash horror movies, not too difficult to deal with, but you can’t guarantee we can handle the things on the other posters.”

He shuddered. “Like that Japanese girl…”

Green Hair, not quite there yet, asked, “Who?”

Even the usually bold sales clerk flinched. “Let’s not talk about it, shall we?”

The young woman in the suit, who had been listening quietly and politely, suddenly spoke up, “If we let her out, I’ll kill myself on the spot.”

Ning Ge A horror movie novice. She had absolutely no idea who this “that girl” was.

Owen didn’t join their discussion, pondering to himself, “Actually, I think this might be a chain reaction.”

He said, “Think about it, in the beginning, the people in room 202 were the first to peel back the poster, releasing the masked person. After they died, the masked person went to room 205, and next came the doll from the poster in room 205. Now the doll from room 205 has come to room 203, so I estimate the next thing to come out will be what’s on the poster in room 203.”

Everyone turned to look at the newspaper on the wall of room 203.

Owen suggested, “I wonder what’s inside. Why don’t we peel it back and see?”

They didn’t know, but Ning Ge did.

The poster in room 203 showed a woman with long hair wearing a white dress.

While eating oden earlier, Ning Ge hadn’t let Pei Han peel back the newspaper. Ning Ge didn’t want to see her, her appearance was unappetizing.

“Shall we peel it back?” Pei Han leisurely picked up an axe, walked to the newspaper, and sought everyone’s opinion.

“Uncover it!” Owen rolled up his sleeves, his face beaming with excitement, as if the casino was about to open its prize.

“Don’t uncover it,” said Granny-grey. “If it’s really a chain reaction, maybe uncovering the newspaper won’t make a difference. Let’s not uncover it, let’s watch one round first.”

The fourth round of “rest” began, and everyone went home.

Ning Ge remained seated, idly looking around.

Pei Han wasn’t sitting on the bed this time, but leaning against the wall, staring intently at the newspaper on the wall above his bed.

He had just been chopping someone up, and the top button of his collar was undone, revealing a small patch of chest and a handsome collarbone.

He was casually playing with the axe in his hand, lazy yet alert, like a leopard resting after a hunt.

Seemingly sensing Ning Ge’s gaze, he suddenly turned his head.

This time, Ning Ge had been caught red-handed peeking at him.

Turning her head now would have made her look guilty.

Ning Ge didn’t move, only expressionlessly shifting her gaze upwards to his eyes.

Last time Ning Ge looked at him like that, he dodged and weaved, resulting in a complete rout and a loss of face.

This time, he clearly didn’t want to admit defeat and changed his strategy.

He stared back at Ning Ge, his deep eyes unwavering.

The two were inexplicably caught in a contest, whoever turned their eyes away first would lose.

While the outcome was still uncertain, someone suddenly called from the next room.

“Something’s come out! Come quick!!”

It was the young lady in a suit from room 201. Her voice was urgent, but not panicked, completely unlike the terrified howls green hair had just displayed.

Pei Han grabbed his axe and left.

He was the first to slip through the now-empty room 202 and into 201.

Behind them came Owen’s voice: “What’s wrong? Do you need help?”

Then Pei Han said, “No need. It’s nothing.”

Nothing?

Ning Ge was confused and followed him into room 201, only to be startled upon entering.

It was incredibly strange.
