Rebellious Game C24.1

Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. 🙂

Chp24. part1

Never Been So Close to Death

Having moved to a new city and regained her internet access, Yun Xin resumed her aggressive job search, sending out resumes left and right.

As it turned out, if you lower your standards enough and are willing to take any job, you’ll always find work.

Sure enough, within a few days, Yun Xin received an interview notification.

This time, the interviewer was the secretary of a design company, hiring for an assistant position.

The moment they met, Miss Secretary asked, “How’s your physical condition?”

Yun Xin’s first thought was: *Do they need me to be healthy enough to work 996?*

With this in mind, she cautiously replied, “It’s decent. I rarely get sick throughout the year.”

Miss Secretary pressed on, “Are you strong? Can you run fast?”

Why would an assistant need to be strong and fast? Yun Xin couldn’t understand, but she nodded anyway. “I have natural strength and excel at sports.”

The secretary’s eyes lit up. She led Yun Xin to a suitcase and encouraged, “Try lifting it. Can you manage?”

Yun Xin effortlessly lifted the suitcase with one hand, then walked around the room carrying it. When she finished, her face was flushed, her breathing was steady, and her heart rate hadn’t even increased.

Miss Secretary was extremely pleased, repeatedly saying, “Good, good, good.”

“One last question,” Miss Secretary said, “are you open to business trips?” She added, “Of course, the company will provide generous subsidies. But during business trips, you’ll need to follow all arrangements.”

“Yes, I can,” Yun Xin agreed.

And that was that.

Before submitting her resume, Yun Xin had looked into the company’s profile. It was a design firm specializing in merchandise design. They also had a partner factory where they sent final designs for mass production before delivering them to clients.

After starting her job, Yun Xin waited for her supervisor to assign her work.

Instead, Miss Secretary told her, “You can leave early today to pack. Meet me at the company entrance tomorrow morning, and we’ll travel with the Boss on a business trip.”

Yun Xin was puzzled. “Leaving early on my first day and going on a business trip the next morning?”

Miss Secretary said with a meaningful smile, “Yes, because of an important itinerary.”

Yun Xin desperately wanted to say, “Don’t do this! You’ll make me feel like I’ll have to find another job right away.”

But she held her tongue.

The next day, Yun Xin arrived at the designated spot on time, her suitcase in hand. To make a good impression on her new colleagues, she even arrived a few minutes early.

When she arrived, she found the Miss Secretary, the young master of a wealthy family, two black-suited bodyguards, and a young male colleague standing at the door.

Yun Xin froze for a moment, feeling like she had come to the wrong place.

The young master of the wealthy family glanced at his watch, his voice tinged with impatience. “Why are you so late?”

Miss Secretary quickly smoothed things over. “She’s new and doesn’t know the ropes yet. She’ll get the hang of it.”

The young master of the wealthy family let out a noncommittal grunt and said, “It’s getting late. Let’s go.”

With that, he got into the car first.

Yun Xin watched clearly as the young male colleague sat down right beside the young master of the wealthy family. One bodyguard got into the driver’s seat, while the other spontaneously sat next to the young master of the wealthy family.

Yun Xin quickly tugged on Miss Secretary’s sleeve. “Weren’t it just the two of us going on this business trip with the Boss?”

Miss Secretary corrected her. “We’re accompanying the Boss on this business trip, but there are more than just the two of us going. The black-suited ones are the bodyguards—the burly one is Brother Zhao, and the tall one is Brother Qiu. The younger one is Lu Lei; he’s a designer at our company and is very close to the Boss. Just call him Brother Lu like I do.”

“Oh—” Yun Xin acknowledged, indicating she understood.

The car drove straight to the airport before stopping.

When Yun Xin got out of the car and saw the plane waiting outside, her movements froze.

Miss Secretary returned after getting the tickets, her movements crisp and efficient. “The flight takes off in twenty-five minutes.”

Boss Lin Qin found a seat and was about to pull out his phone to pass the time when Yun Xin suddenly said, “Refund the tickets and book the next flight.”

Miss Secretary froze.

Lin Qin, bewildered, looked up at the new employee. “Why?”

“That plane gives me a bad feeling,” Yun Xin said.

Lin Qin was speechless. He turned to Miss Secretary. “Is this the new person you hired? Didn’t you make it clear during the interview?”

“I did,” Miss Secretary replied. She tugged at Yun Xin’s sleeve, her smile strained, her words tight with irritation. “What’s wrong with you? Didn’t I tell you to follow all arrangements during business trips?”

“I’m not getting on that plane, and I advise you not to either,” Yun Xin said.

Lin Qin laughed in exasperation. “Then explain yourself! What’s wrong with the plane? What bad things will happen if we board it?”

Yun Xin answered bluntly, “I don’t know.”

She simply sensed that if she boarded, the danger level would be C-class.

Moreover, ever since Miss Secretary bought the tickets, a thick, gray-black mist had been enveloping everyone else.

Once the plane takes off, there’ll be nowhere to run. I’d be calling out to heaven and earth in vain. I’m absolutely not taking that risk.

“Are you afraid of flying?” Lin Qin asked again.

Yun Xin shook her head. “No.”

“You’re not afraid of flying, but you can’t explain what’s wrong, and you want me to skip the flight and wait for the next one?” Lin Qin was exasperated. “Listen to yourself—does that even make sense?”

“A gentleman doesn’t stand beneath a crumbling wall,” Yun Xin said, offering an extra warning out of consideration for it being her second day on the job.

“I think you’d better stay here alone,” Lin Qin said coldly. “I hereby announce that you’re fired, effective immediately.”

He strode out of the room
