Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. 🙂

As the saying goes, what secrets are there in the workplace? Friends spread the word, friends tell their friends, and before long, many people know.
But knowing is one thing, and most people can’t imagine the serious consequences of such a small oversight.
Many employees knew about the cracked walls and beams in the hotel. But when they talked about it, it was mostly in a joking tone, focusing on criticising the boss. Very few took it seriously, or even seriously considered quitting.
Some even thought that if someone brave enough pointed it out, the boss could just have someone fix it, and everyone could work with peace of mind again.
However, as Yun Xin ate her corn pancake, she suddenly felt a familiar pang of anxiety.
At the same time, her right eyelid twitched uncontrollably. The frequency was comparable to a syrup spill.
Yun Xin fell silent.
The corn pancake in her hand suddenly lost its flavour.
“The boss is so stingy, didn’t you ever consider finding another job?” Yun Xin asked casually.
The apprentices complained bitterly, “our Master insisted on staying, where could we go?”
“It’s not that no one tried to poach him, but the boss helped Master before. Our Master said, ‘One shouldn’t be so heartless,’ so he didn’t switch jobs.”
“Actually, it wasn’t a big deal. The hotel was hiring a chef, and our Master applied. The boss was impressed with his cooking skills and decided to hire him. Our Master was short on cash at the time, so he reluctantly asked the boss for three months’ salary in advance. The boss must have been really impressed with his skills, because he agreed. Our Master got through that difficult time with that money and has always been grateful ever since. To be honest, our Master is just too sentimental. The boss is so stingy, always deducting wages but hardly giving raises, he’s already giving away more than three months’ salary with his skill!”
“You can’t say that. I heard that our Master’s relative was sick at the time, and he was heavily in debt, being poor…”
“Really nothing to eat, they’re almost starving. Thankfully, these three months’ wages have kept them going. Even though the boss is stingy, who knows what would have happened to our Master without him?”
Someone else complained, “I’ve always felt that the boss chose our Master not only because of his culinary skills, but also because the hotel’s wages are low, and nobody else would come… He finally found a sucker, so he had to invest a little upfront. Our poor Master, with all his culinary skills, just had bad luck, getting stuck with the hotel because of a small favor. You have to admit, the boss has a bit of luck with money.”
Seeing the topic drifting further Yun Xin said, “Since we’re all free anyway, how about I treat you to coffee?”
Everyone was very interested, “Sure, sure!”
“Let’s go to the coffee shop,” Yun Xin said, standing up.
To her surprise, the apprentices shook their heads frantically. “We can’t leave the hotel during working hours.”
“Slacking off is one thing, but going outside is another.”
“If our Master finds out, he’ll be furious.”
“We’ll tell you what we want to drink, can you go buy the coffee? Or order takeout?”
Yun Xin tried to persuade them, “It’s a rare opportunity, just a short while, you won’t be caught. If you are… just say it’s my fault, it’s all my fault!”
The apprentices firmly refused, “We’ll be expelled as Master apprentices.”
“We can’t afford to gamble.”
“Gamblers lose everything in the end. I’ll refuse gambling and drugs, starting with myself.”
Yun Xin gave up, “Fine, you stay, I’ll go alone.”
For a moment, she wanted to be heartless and abandon them.
After all, her consistent principle was to reach out to those who needed and deserved help. Whether or not to accept that help was their choice.
“Take care on the way, no rush,” the apprentices said, smiling.
“I’ll make you something delicious when you get back!”
“I still have some milk candy here, take this.” The person said, handing over a handful of milk candy, gesturing for Yun Xin to take it and put it in her pocket.
Yun Xin hesitated slightly, almost unable to move.
” Manager Tong Jia!” Seeing Tong Jia from afar, Yun Xin called out and ran over.
Tong Jia was startled, a chill running down her spine- what was this unprecedented enthusiasm?
“I have something very important to tell you, so I won’t beat around the bush,” Yun Xin said quickly. “Someone said that the mirror on the dressing table in the guest room broke a couple of days ago, and the beams in the lobby are cracked too. What should we do? I’m so worried. What if the hotel collapses?”
Tong Jia: Please don’t say that! Now that you’ve mentioned it, I’m starting to think that way too!
Yun Xin didn’t give her a chance to reply, continuing on her own, “This is a hotel. There are over a hundred people here- dining, lodging, and staff. If the building collapses, everyone will be buried…”
“Normally, this is unlikely. But for some reason, I’m panicking, I can’t help but think about it.”
“Manager Tong, I know you have a strong sixth sense, what do you think?”
