What malicious intent could NPCs possibly have? C5.2

Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. ๐Ÿ™‚

Chp5. part2

The poster for room 201 showed a tall, masked man wielding a machete, looking rather goofy. The poster for room 204 showed a boy in a blood-stained school uniform.

Pei Han scrutinised the boy in the school uniform on the poster. “Have you seen this movie?”

Ning Ge shook her head without hesitation. “No.”

Pei Han hummed in agreement. “Me neither.”

Neither of them had seen it, which was ideal.

Before the “break” began, Pei Han sent everyone back to their rooms.

“We two have to be first,” Ning Ge said.

They both shared the same thought, to be first. It was obvious that the monster would only appear once per break, and the rule was likely that early birds get the worm, first-come, first-served.

Pei Han placed the exposed wires of the lamp aside, picked up his axe, and then looked at his bracelet.

Ning Ge also looked down at the time on her bracelet.

Pei Han softly read the countdown, “Four, three, two, one, begin.”

The sixth round of “rest” began.

Ning Ge immediately thought of the boy on the poster, and Pei Han was undoubtedly thinking the same thing, they had the same thought at the same time.

Sure enough, almost at the same time, something appeared by the wall.

It was the boy in the school uniform from the poster.

Neither of them had seen the movie, didn’t recognise him at all, and had no idea how he killed people.

Ning Ge tried to control her thoughts, but thoughts are hard to control, and a dangerous thought slipped through her fingers: “Could he also use telekinesis?”

Thankfully, this student wasn’t telekinetic.

The boy in the school uniform stood by the wall, as if frozen in place, completely motionless.

He didn’t attack, and Ning Ge and Pei Han showed no fear of him. The three of them stood there, like a stage suddenly falling silent, a slight awkwardness hanging in the air.

The experiment was a success.

Ning Ge looked up and met Pei Han’s gaze. They smiled at each other.

This was the first time she’d seen this man smile since morning.

A hint of a smile touched the corners of his handsome lips and eyes, making Ning Ge momentarily lose her composure.

He smiled, but his hands were ruthless. He picked up a live, exposed electrical wire and pressed it against the boy wearing a school uniform.

In the sparks, the figure vanished.

The pattern had finally been found. Ning Ge breathed a sigh of relief, sat down on the edge of the bed, pulled a pillow behind her back, placed her hands neatly on her stomach, stared at the ceiling, and mentally reviewed the entire process.

In this mission, if the two people in the double room simultaneously had a thought, a character from a horror movie would be created.

This morning, everyone’s minds were blank upon entering the room, nothing happened.

The people in room 202 were the first to tear open the newspaper. Both of them simultaneously saw the masked man’s poster, had a thought about the masked man, and the masked man appeared. The two were killed.

Then things took a sharp turn for the worse, spiralling out of control.

Everyone saw the horror movie poster and started speculating wildly.

In the second round, the two guys in room 205, Green hair and Granny Grey hair, were simultaneously thinking about the masked man, and he appeared out of room 205, only to be defeated by Pei Han.

To find the pattern, Pei Han peeled back the poster in room 205 and, together with Ning Ge, saw the Ugly Doll. At the start of the third round, both of them thought of the Ugly Doll, and it actually appeared.

In the fourth round, the young girl and the boy in room 201 simultaneously thought of the less scary shark, and the shark appeared out of nowhere.

Then, to verify that the chain reaction wasn’t working, Pei Han deliberately peeled back the newspaper in room 203 and saw the woman in white on the poster. At the start of the fifth round, he and Ning Ge successfully summoned the woman in white.

Finally, the sixth round was a successful experiment.

In other words, half of these monsters were created by Pei Han.

He created them himself and then dealt with them himselfโ€”a self-production and self-consumption. However, even if he and Ning Ge didn’t summon the monster first, others would still do it. It’s just that they had seen the poster and their ideas were more aligned, so they could act before others.

Pei Han sat down on the edge of the bed. “Remember what you said at the beginning? The bracelet told us to rest, meaning really rest, do nothing, and nothing will happen.”

Ning Ge no longer thought that way. “But if we want to find the anchor point, we can’t just do nothing.”

“That’s right,” Pei Han agreed. “If we do nothing, we’ll lose the clues about the anchor point given by the quest.”

The anchor point system is designed to prevent players from simply coasting through.

Ning Ge continued to ponder.

“So, the clue given by this quest is ‘thought’?”

“It should be,” Pei Han said confidently.

What could be related to thoughts?

Pei Han glanced at the countdown timer on his bracelet. “We need to hurry. It’s time to finish this mission. I think next time we can try…”

…get everyone to clear their minds and stop their random thoughts.

Sleeping would be best, but sleeping isn’t practical at a time like this. Ning Ge thought for a moment, “Faint?”

… They’ve summoned things every round. If they don’t summon them again, this endless cycle may end.

Pei Han paused. “Easier said than done. How about…”

His gaze swept over Ning Ge on the bed.
… “Do something else, distract them.”
