The Vicious Female Character at the End of Days: C8.1

Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. 🙂

Chapter 8. (1/2)

Qing Qing, don’t be afraid.

The dense forest was dark and damp. Towering trees blocked all light, and thick white fog filled the air. Frosty water dripped from branches and leaves.

Bai Qing Qing opened her eyes, wracked with pain. Unsure if her bones were broken, she vaguely remembered being blown away by Shen Mingxuan.

She turned her head and saw a man lying nearby. In the dim light, she couldn’t see his face. Dread twisted in her chest—if it was Shen Mingxuan, who hated her, she wouldn’t survive.

After lying still to recover her strength, Bai Qing Qing forced herself upright, carefully pushing herself up on her elbows before sitting up and turning to look over at the man.

By the light filtering through the leaves, she could see the man’s face clearly. A high, straight nose. Deep, sculpted features—exceptionally handsome, captivating the eye.

Bai Qing Qing was slightly stunned. She hadn’t expected the man to be Fu Chen.

Fu Chen’s violent and unpredictable nature was infamous. Doubt and disbelief swirled—would a man like him truly risk his life to save her? That possibility left her heart pounding and her mind racing with questions.

Bai Qing Qing scrambled to her feet and rushed over, kneeling beside him. She gently patted his face with her right hand, “Fu Chen, wake up, wake up…”

She remembered the system’s mission and secretly prayed that Fu Chen wouldn’t die.

Blood-stained Fu Chen’s camouflage uniform. He was unconscious. His face was flushed, the redness unnatural—a warning of severe injuries.

Bai Qing Qing frowned, first placing her hand on his forehead to check his temperature. His forehead was burning hot, far exceeding normal body temperature.

She didn’t know if a high fever could kill a superhuman, but she couldn’t leave him alone.

Bai Qing Qing scanned her surroundings, unable to discern her location. She knew she had to get Fu Chen out of there. The forest was teeming with dangerous plants and beasts, especially in this perilous apocalyptic world.

She hadn’t tried controlling plant powers before, so this was a good opportunity to test her abilities.

Bai Qing Qing got up, walked to a nearby tree, studied its trunk up close, and placed her palm against the rough bark, attempting to sense its structure.

The tree was ordinary, offering no useful information. Turning around, she witnessed a horrifying scene: a vine was wrapped around Fu Chen’s leg, dragging him in a certain direction.

Instinctively, Bai Qing Qing threw herself toward Fu Chen and gripped his arm with both hands to anchor him in place. The vine reacted quickly, wrapping both of them tightly in its coils and dragging them rapidly away across the forest floor.

After an unknown amount of time, the vine finally stopped its rampage. Bai Qing Qing looked up at its source.

This was likely an early-stage mutated plant, beyond human understanding of plant species. It resembled a vine monster from an anime, tightly binding the two of them and suspending them in mid-air.

Bai Qing Qing noticed many animal bones around her, and even saw what looked like a human skull, probably undigested and expelled by the vine.

She didn’t know what rank this mutated plant was, or if she could control it with her powers. If she failed, both she and Fu Chen would become its prey.

Bai Qing Qing took a deep breath, reached out, and grasped the vines, activating her mental control.

The mutated plant sensed the forced intrusion. It flailed its vines and struggled frantically, emitting a monstrous roar. Then it realized Bai Qing Qing was behind it, and wrapped its vines tightly around her fair neck.

Bai Qing Qing’s breathing became increasingly difficult; her face paled, and she frowned, continuing to use her powers.

It was probably a mutated plant of at least rank two. Several minutes passed in a stalemate. She still couldn’t control it, and she was struggling to breathe.

A deafening roar of lightning erupted, and the mutated plant let out a bloodcurdling scream. The vines suddenly released their grip, and Bai Qing Qing coughed violently, looking at Fu Chen in front of her.

“Qing Qing, don’t be afraid.” Fu Chen shielded her with one hand, while the other unleashed another bolt of lightning, blasting the mutated plant apart.

Bai Qing Qing pressed herself to his chest, a tremor in her voice betraying her rising worry. “Brother, how are you? Are you really okay?” Her fear for him overwhelmed her exhaustion.

Fu Chen, enduring the excruciating pain, said in a low, hoarse voice, “I’m fine, I just need to rest for a while…”

His tone was unusually tender.

Before he could finish, the man slumped back into unconsciousness. Bai Qing Qing’s heart clenched watching his pallor deepen, dread gnawing at her as his condition worsened.

Tears filled Bai Qing Qing’s eyes. Gritting her teeth and controlling her trembling hands, she pushed herself upright. She put one hand on Fu Chen’s forehead, confirming his fever had grown hotter.
