The Vicious Female Character at the End of Days: C4.2

Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. 🙂

Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!

Chapter 4. (2/2)

Bai Qing Qing didn’t know when she returned to her room. When she woke up the next day, the sun was high in the sky. As she went downstairs to wash up, she saw Bai Tian Tian cooking porridge.

Bai Tian Tian’s attitude towards her had clearly changed over the past two days; in short, it wasn’t as good as it was before.

After washing up, Bai Qing Qing drew back the curtains separating the living room and the driver’s side, and through the car window, she saw the city rising majestically in the distance.

They were only a dozen kilometers away from the city. The modified car came to a stop, and the group gathered in the living room for breakfast. After breakfast, they discussed their next steps.

Liang Zhiyu, displaying his strategic skills, produced a hand-drawn sketch, outlining the areas where they would gather supplies. If conditions were favorable, they could rest in the city for a few days after collecting supplies before continuing their journey.

Jiangcheng was divided into north and south districts by a long river, with a bridge spanning several hundred kilometers. The entrance to the city was in the south district. After the apocalypse, the checkpoints and roads leading into the city were rendered useless, leaving many obstacles unresolved.

Before even entering the city, they saw zombies slowly wandering the roads, and upon hearing the sound of a vehicle, they headed towards the modified car.

During the day, under the bright sun, the zombies moved more slowly. These low-level zombies emitted hoarse growls, their rotting and grotesque faces causing nausea.

The modified car simply ran them over as it entered Jiangcheng.

Jiangcheng was neither too far nor too close to Haicheng, the epicenter of the zombie outbreak. For months, the city had become a zombie-infested wasteland, and most of the survivors had fled to their new bases for shelter.

Therefore, it was primarily survivor teams passing through Jiangcheng to scavenge for supplies.

The once bustling streets and city were now deserted, save for the occasional zombie wandering by, shopping bags billowing in the wind.

The modified vehicle pulled up outside a supermarket. According to their battle plan, the seven members of the Thunder Squad entered the large supermarket to search for supplies. Each member had a clear role and a swift operation, as no one knew exactly how many zombies were inside.

Shen Mingxuan and Liang Zhiyu guarded the car outside, while the others split up to gather the necessary items. Bai Tian Tian, completely defenseless, was protected by Cheng Rui and Xiao Yang.

Bai Qing Qing and Fu Chen entered the supermarket together, their eyes darting across the vast array of goods as they considered which items to store in her personal storage space, which was currently quite small.

“Brother, let’s go to the food section first.”

“Let’s go,” Fu Chen said. As long as one is human, one must eat; grains, oils, rice, noodles, vegetables, fruits, and eggs are the most important things.

Bai Qing Qing wandered around the grains, oils, rice, and noodles section, piling all the edible rice, flour, oil, and seasonings into her spatial storage. Unfortunately, the supermarket hadn’t been visited in a long time, and all the vegetables and fruits had expired and were unusable.

Bai Qing Qing experienced the exhilarating feeling of having the whole place to herself for the first time. After browsing the grains, oils, rice, and noodles section, she headed towards the daily necessities section.

She swept the towels, clothes, shoes, and tissues off the shelves of daily necessities. Fu Chen followed leisurely behind her, his eyes flickering slightly as he watched her happily stocking up.

After clearing out the personal hygiene products, Bai Qing Qing finally felt secure. Even on uncomfortable days, she felt helpless without sanitary napkins, let alone in the event of an apocalypse.

After clearing out the goods section, she pulled Fu Chen towards the dry goods section, wanting to stock up on some snacks and drinks. Just as she reached the snack section, hurried footsteps sounded, and several tall, armed men burst into the supermarket. A flicker of surprise crossed their eyes when they saw Bai Qing Qing.

The leader was a tall, bald man, over six feet tall, with well-developed muscles, who exuded a menacing presence.

“You’re here to collect supplies too?”

Fu Chen glanced at him and said coldly, “We’ve finished searching and are about to leave.”

The bald man looked at them warily, sizing them up several times, before gesturing for his men to go find supplies.

There weren’t many human survivors in the apocalypse to begin with, and some would team up to head to a safe base for safety. The bald man, for reasons unknown, stopped them.

“Brother, don’t go yet. My name is Zhang Qiang. Where are you going? We can team up.”

“No need, it’s not on my way.” Fu Chen refused directly.

The bald man, Zhang Qiang, looked a little grim at being directly rejected. As the leader of the survivor team, he had never been rejected like this before.

His eyes kept glancing at Bai Qing Qing, feigning concern as he said, “Young man, don’t be nervous. We’re not bad people. Are you going to Yaoyang Base?”

Almost everyone passing through Jiangcheng was heading to Yaoyang Base, so Zhang Qiang easily guessed their route.

Zhang Qiang’s men were nearby, each armed and ready. A firefight would attract zombies, so even with the tense atmosphere, neither side acted rashly.

Fu Chen’s face was cold, his dark eyes giving the man a chilling look. “No comment.”

He tried to pull Bai Qing Qing away, but the bald man blocked his way with his gun, angrily shouting, “Are you out of your mind? I’m trying to help you nicely, and you don’t even appreciate it!”

Zhang Qiang’s men, their faces fierce, gathered around, guns in hand, clearly intending a group attack. Just then, a loud ‘bang’ rang out from a corner of the supermarket. The gunshot was so loud that it instantly startled the zombies throughout the shopping center.

Hearing the commotion and smelling the human scent, the zombies hidden in the supermarket roared and bared their fangs, attacking fiercely, instantly creating a tense atmosphere.

“Damn it! Who is it!” Zhang Qiang, his face ashen, led his men in firing a hail of bullets: “Retreat!”

Before they even had time to gather supplies, they were surrounded by zombies—utterly unlucky.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Fu Chen pulled Bai Qing Qing over several shelves, rushing towards the exit. Zombies roared everywhere, a terrifying sight.

This was Bai Qing Qing’s first time facing such a crisis, and she couldn’t help but feel tense; even her breathing slowed.

“Captain!” Three people rushed towards them: Xiao Yang and Cheng Rui, dragging Bai Qing Qing Tian, attacking the zombies while protecting her.

The zombies in the shopping mall all converged on the supermarket, constantly charging, biting, and leaping. Even with superpowers, it was difficult to maneuver in the crowded space; they could only rush towards the underground parking lot through the emergency exits.

Bai Tian Tian staggered, tears streaming down her face as she cried, “I’m sorry, it’s all my fault…”
