Rebellious Game C1.1

Hey, first of all, thanks for reading my lousy Machine Translation. To be honest, I’d really like it if you guys corrected the mistakes I made. But please speak nicely and politely. My heart is not strong enough to read your too-harsh comments. Have a nice day. 🙂

Chp1. part1

The Honey Tragedy

Late winter, early spring. The sun shone brightly, it was a rare, beautiful day.

Yun Xin was copying documents when suddenly her right eye started twitching uncontrollably.

“The data isn’t needed for the meeting this afternoon, no rush. Lunch break is over, let’s go eat first,” Tan Qiaoqiao said, approaching with a smile.

Yun Xin glanced at the wall clock, then looked around the room. “Where’s everyone else?”

“Still busy, they said they were going to order takeout, not going out to eat,” Tan Qiaoqiao said, pressing the elevator button. “It’s normal for working people to work overtime during lunch break.”

Yun Xin rubbed the corner of her eye. But her right eyelid didn’t stop twitching. Instead, it twitched even more violently. “I’m moving recently, and I’d like to treat everyone to a meal. Why don’t we invite them all?”

Is someone treating them to a meal? What a stroke of luck! Tan Qiaoqiao readily agreed, “Okay, I’ll go tell them.”

Hearing that someone wanted to pay for lunch, everyone stopped working, skipped overtime, and stood up happily to leave.

Liu Na looked around and couldn’t help but ask about her boyfriend’s whereabouts, “Where’s Chang Heng? Why didn’t he come?”

Tan Qiaoqiao replied, “He said he had a stomachache, he’ll be coming later.”

He’s a grown man, he can’t be lost. Besides, he can contact her by phone, what’s there to worry about?

Liu Na didn’t say anything more.

At this point, seven minutes had passed since her right eyelid first twitched.

Yun Xin, not wanting to delay any longer, said, “If we go late, the food will be served very slowly. Let’s go order first.”

Nine minutes later, the group walked out of the office building.

Eleven minutes later, Tan Qiaoqiao realised that the road they were taking didn’t lead to their usual restaurant and quickly reminded Yun Xin that they were on the wrong path.

Yun Xin explained, “I know, I wanted to go to another, more expensive restaurant and treat everyone to a nice meal.”

Since the person treating them was saying this, Tan Qiaoqiao naturally wouldn’t object.

Sixteen minutes later, the twitching of her right eyelid gradually slowed down. At the same time, Yun Xin’s heart tightened- she felt a palpitation.

Nineteen minutes later, the group arrived at the restaurant and ordered a private room. “This place is quite far,” Tan Qiaoqiao said, picking up the menu and flipping through it. “I’m tired from walking all this way. Let’s see what we can eat.”

Liu Na took out her phone and dialled her boyfriend’s number several times, but there was no answer. She wondered, “Strange, why isn’t he answering?”

“It’s a bit stuffy in here, let’s open the window to let some air in,” Chen Xuan said, opening the window.

Just as the window opened, a loud bang suddenly came from outside, startling everyone.

“What happened? What happened?” Chen Xuan looked outside.

A giant wave, seven or eight meters high and composed of an unidentified liquid, instantly engulfed the nearby village.

Pedestrians on the street and cars parked on the roadside were swept away.

At the same time, a sweet aroma filled the air.

“Ah—!” Liu Na let out a piercing scream upon seeing the location of the accident.

The others stared in disbelief. “That flooded area, does it include our company?”

“I’ve told the boss a hundred times not to be such a cheapskate. I warned him about renting an office in an urban village, but he wouldn’t listen. Now look—we’re flooded!”

“Such a big thing, shouldn’t we call the police?”

“Holy crap! Holy crap! Holy crap!!! If Yun Xin hadn’t treated us to dinner, would we still be stuck in the office working overtime?”

These words sent a chill down everyone’s spine.

They realised then that they had just narrowly escaped death.

Tan Qiaoqiao was already tired and hungry, but now she was so frightened that she felt nothing. Looking out the window, she couldn’t help but feel a chill of fear. “What is this liquid? It looks sticky and thick… and it’s even steaming!”

“Speaking of which, shouldn’t we go out and rescue them?” Someone glanced into the room, hesitatingly saying, “There are several men in this room. Wouldn’t it be better to go out and lend a hand, get them out?”

“Going out will only lead to our deaths,” Chen Xuan pointed to a spot. “Look at him, a grown man, strong and muscular, looks like he works out regularly. He can’t break free, the more he struggles, the deeper he sinks. What good will we do?”

Feeling bad, the man thought for a moment, “I’ll call the police.”

But when he took out his phone and dialled, he found it was constantly busy, he couldn’t get through.

“Many people are making phone calls outside; ambulances and police cars should be on their way,” Chen Xuan said, constantly monitoring the situation outside the window.

“Luckily, we didn’t have dinner at our usual restaurant,” Tan Qiaoqiao said clearly. “That place is nearby, and it was affected too.”

Although it was only a peripheral area, the damage wasn’t severe, and there didn’t seem to be any immediate danger to life. They were still involved and might have to wait for a police rescue. Unlike them, who were far away and felt a deep sense of security.

“We’re alright, but what about Chang Heng? What will happen to Chang Heng?!” Liu Na cried and wailed, her emotions running high.

Seeing her crying so bitterly, Tan Qiaoqiao couldn’t bear to rub salt into her wounds, but in her heart she thought, “He’s not choosing wisely for free lunch, there’s something wrong with his thinking. Even with someone trying to save him, he wouldn’t leave. Who’s to blame if he dies?”

The others clearly thought the same way, and one by one they tried to persuade her.

“It’s rare for someone to treat everyone, and everyone else came, but he’s got diarrhea and stayed in the office… It just means it was his fate, he couldn’t escape it. Try to think positively.”

“It’s not that we didn’t want to save him, it’s just that he himself is useless. He couldn’t even seize the chance to live! What could we do? Were we supposed to drag him here?”

“If it weren’t for Yun Xin, none of us would have escaped! We barely escaped with our lives, we should be grateful.”

After everyone’s persuasion, Liu Na’s emotions remained unstable. Suddenly, she seemed to have discovered something, her eyes widening… Staring at Yun Xin, “Did you already know?”
